Yes. I had opened a ticket on that, thinking that it was an error in dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg, but was told that this is the new and improved behavior. I also use the nvidia driver, and am frustrated by the lack of autodetection while being told that "everything is autodetected now". But the ticket was closed, regardless.
