I have a problem with my Debian Woody. I have the 2.4.18-bf2.4 kernel. My computer set up is the following:
Asus A7S266-VM/U2 AMP XP 2400+ hda: 60 gb hard drive hdc: creative cdrom 52X hdd: samsung cdrw I have two nic cards. My motherboard's specs are: North Bridge: SiS 740 South Bridge: SiS 962L Integrated 4X AGP Graphics 2 x UltraDMA/133/100/66 C-Media 4-channel CODEC S/PDIF-out interface Lan: SiS 962L integrated 10/100Mbps Fast Ethernet with Realtek external PHY My problem is the following: Scenario 1: I got my nic cards working and my sound to work if i add in the append section of my lilo.conf file. This is the line: append= "hdd=ide-scsi pci=bios" But I can't get linux to detect the existence of my cdrom and cdrw (the bios settings are correct, since they work perfectly under win98). This is my dmesg output: Linux version 2.4.18-bf2.4 ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) (gcc version 2.95.4 20011002 (Debian prerelease)) #1 Son Apr 14 09:53:28 CEST 2002 BIOS-provided physical RAM map: BIOS-e820: 0000000000000000 - 000000000009fc00 (usable) BIOS-e820: 000000000009fc00 - 00000000000a0000 (reserved) BIOS-e820: 00000000000f0000 - 0000000000100000 (reserved) BIOS-e820: 0000000000100000 - 000000000dffc000 (usable) BIOS-e820: 000000000dffc000 - 000000000dfff000 (ACPI data) BIOS-e820: 000000000dfff000 - 000000000e000000 (ACPI NVS) BIOS-e820: 00000000fec00000 - 00000000fec01000 (reserved) BIOS-e820: 00000000fee00000 - 00000000fee01000 (reserved) BIOS-e820: 00000000ffff0000 - 0000000100000000 (reserved) On node 0 totalpages: 57340 zone(0): 4096 pages. zone(1): 53244 pages. zone(2): 0 pages. I've also tried: append= "hdd=ide-scsi pci=bios, biosirq" The result is the same as the first scenario. I get the two nic cards to work correctly and the sound. But I can't get my cdrom and cdrw to work. Can anyone tell me what to do. I've read A LOT and I can't figure out how to solve this. Should I change my kernel?? Is there another option to append??? I need help please. Thank you. Henry PS: Sorry about the long mail. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
