Yup...

Desire to be able to read my email from the console (occasional X
bugs in Sid was one impetus for this) are why I originally
originally set up postfix as a satellite node, fetchmail and
Maildir, and learned the basics of Mutt.

This way, I could still read email all my email, surf the web and
play nethack even if X went south for a week or more.
