What exactly is your question, then? I don't really see a problem in the > output you posted. If you don't agree with apt-get about which packages > should be removed, just install them at the same time you install the > package you want (and don't already have). >
D'oh! After I edited my post several times it seems that I lost the question itself: Proceeding with "apt-get install banshee" will essentially uninstall Gnome. Just installing the about-to-be-removed packages will of course result in a broken package message like this: The following packages have unmet dependencies: gnome-settings-daemon: Conflicts: banshee (< 0.13.2+dfsg-7) but 0.13.2+dfsg-2 is to be installed E: Broken packages Question is: Is this due to Testing-transition problems with banshee or is it worse? I got used to those problems and generally I stay calm but because of the specific situation (remember: used synaptic the first time) I became more nervous. So I am asking this just to make sure nothing too bad happened. And again: I am sorry if this is unnessesary noise... maybe I'm just too nervous...
