Try this. First, see if you can get the VertRefresh and HorizSync numbers for your LCD display. Your manual or the web page for the manufacturer may have them. Then, go ahead and finish dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg. At some point you will see a question about those numbers. These are the most important numbers, as I understand, for the display. Note. If you get into dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg and get confused or unsure, you can always do it over until you understand it.
