Hi List, I am using Debian Testing with Gnome on a i686 desktop.
Perfect install (well, almost...) On the top bar, in the right-hand corner, next to date & time, is the "nm-applet 0.6.5", which is the Network Manager icon, you know, the one with 2 little blue monitor... When the network is not connected, it displays a red cross... So after my install, I was running DHCP, and the "nm-applet 0.6.5" was working just fine, no red cross... Then I wanted to have my regular static IP (I need it, because I share files between various PC's in my local network...). I successfully configured it, but the "nm-applet 0.6.5" displayed the red cross, saying "no network connection"... (I am connected to both network & internet, but the applet says I am not...) That was also the case when running Fedora and Gnome, or Debian Etch and Gnome... I wish to "make it work", that is to have the Gnome Network Manager acknowledging my Static IP connection... If any of you fellow users has a clue, feel free to post it here, thanks in advance !
