Ahh, thats good to know. > System wide: > Whilst the package manager puts its fonts into /usr/share/fonts, > the correct place for you to put yours would be > /usr/local/share/fonts, or any subdirectory thereof, such as > /usr/local/share/fonts/truetype (or even deeper). I have a whole lot of: # locate fonts # [..] # /usr/local/share/Mowitz/fonts # /usr/local/share/Mowitz/fonts.txt # /usr/local/share/Mowitz/fonts/agd.afm # /usr/local/share/Mowitz/fonts/agdo.afm # [..] # /usr/local/share/Mowitz/fonts/tnrl2bi_.afm # /usr/local/share/Mowitz/fonts/tnrl2bi_.pfb [..] Left over from a "Damn Small Linux" install. Although an apt-cache search mowitz doesn't show anything I won't trash them now, cheers! But according to what you say I should just replicate the /usr/local/share/fonts hierarchy similar to the /usr/share/fonts hierarchy and they'll "just work"? > Per user: > Put your fonts into ~/.fonts, or any subdirectory thereof. > > No further action required, works immediately. > (Well, you may have to restart a program, OpenOffice in particular.) > > Also works for Type 1 fonts, consisting of 2 files: a .pfa or .pfb > file, and a .afm file. > > BTW, I have the Liberation fonts as the standard fonts for Qt and GTK, > since they look great on screen. Mmmm, maybe It may help sharpen up the odd PDF file I have trouble with. I normally just use the console, but if I *need* to see a graphic or PDF or look at some chess games with "scid" then I use a not very customised fvwm. Oh, and of course, "xdvi" and "gv" :-) -- Chris. ====== -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
