hello,
forget my really dumb question (after 24 hours of work) (see below and before
on this list)
sorry trying to take your time for nothing.
ifup and ifdown work as they should
apologees again,
steef
hi list,
when i do <sudo ifconfig eth0 down> contact with the internet is duly
shut off.
but: when i do <sudo ifconfig eth0 up> nothing happens: i still cannot
reach the internet.
what is it that i miss?
lspci gives: 00:14.0 Bridge: nVidia Corporation MCP51 Ethernet
Controller (rev a3)
nano /etc/network/interfaces tells me:
# This file describes the network interfaces available on your system
# and how to activate them. For more information, see interfaces(5).
# The loopback network interface
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback
# The primary network interface
allow-hotplug eth0
iface eth0 inet dhcp
in /etc/udev I find:
# PCI device 0x10de:0x0269 (forcedeth)
SUBSYSTEM=="net", DRIVERS=="?*", ATTRS{address}=="00:17:31:aa:03:d8",
NAME="eth0"
so all seems to be normal.
when i boot my box all works again as it should.
regards,
steef
