Currently it is present in /etc/apt/sources.list and commented out :-(. When I get my courage up to use "apt-zip", I will remove the mark and bring my OS up-to-date. Hitherto, all the flagged security issues have been "local" and hence are not a problem when there is only one user. Thank you for taking the time to clarify my confusion.
