Totem is the GNOME media player. I'm not surprised that weird things happen when you pull a crap-load of GNOME dependencies into KDE. Even less relevant to your problem, but this is one reason why I stick with GNOME: the apps I like to use are all either GNOME or GTK apps, and so using them with KDE just doesn't "fit" smoothly.
