I thought that it was a higher frequency (as well as voltage) up to
the transformer. Maybe I'm wrong...
The voltage is higher. The frequency is 60 Hz everywhere in the U.S.,
Canada, and Mexico -- except for some isolated areas that use 25 Hz.
