Directly attached via a serial multi-port card, or via an Ethernet terminal server? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terminal_server http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DECserver > When people had terminals instead of > computers on their desks, how big was a computer with 2 GB ram and 500 > GB hard drive space and the power of a modern CPU (e.g. Athlon64)? The last time I had an actual real-live VT220 on my desk was 1991. Connected via LAT to a DECserver and then a VAXcluster, consisting of a VAX 8600 & VAX 8800, each with 64MB RAM. Don't remember the disk space, because the database was in a ShareBase/Britton-Lee machine. Each was at least a full rack. 2GB RAM would have used a simply enormous number of DIP RAM chips. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Local_Area_Transport > Then again, I tried to find an off-the-shelf good quality simple PS/2 > keyboard today with no luck.
