I wouldn't do it.  The boot process should be as simple as 
possible, so that as little as possible can go wrong.

(This is a timely question, since the 20-Dec-2007 thread "what to 
take off the root partition" has morphed into the meaning of 
KISS: Keep It Simple, Stupid.)
