Hello. I'm trying to install Debian/etch on Acer Aspire 5520G, but the problem is, that kernel 2.6.18 doesn't support Marvell netcard 436b. I found it is supportable in 2.6.23.9, so I decided to compile it. I used default configuration, taken from /proc/config.gz and after compiling and installing (using modules on initrd) I had to reboot to new kernel.
But I got a failure. Everything seems ok during loading from initrd, but kernel couldn't find root filesystem (module is available). I looked through /dev and found none sd devices (there is SATA disk on the laptop). Any ideas how to solve a problem? It works fine with 2.6.18 kernel.
