This setup is fine if you have only one usb-drive. On my side, to be sure that a usb-device is always mounted on the same point, I use an entry from /dev/disk/by-id/ instead of relying on /dev/sdd1. On the other hand, if I do not want to control exactly where to mount the device, I let KDE handle it.
