The same thing happened running X directly I am having problems even googling this. It seems like a very rare situation and I am not sure what package is causing this so I am conidering re-installing tonight. (it is a brand new install so only time, not data will be lost) I would however like to know what the issue was at least so I could file bug :-\ --
