And, *look* at /var *first* to see if it matches what I posted. don't panic though, there is (or should not be) anything persistent in /tmp, so it will fix itself up with a reboot. meanwhile look at /var permissions for potential problems. In particular, /var/tmp should have the sticky bit set. Maybe you could post up the output of ls -ld /var and ls -l /var thanks A
