If you Google a bit, I think that you shall find that others have experienced difficulty with the gspca driver. If you are able to return the unit and purchase another, get a Philips SPC900NC/27. It has glass optics (not plastic), it has superior performance in situations with low-illumination, and I found that it works with Debian etch. About US$80.
