As others have said, "most" is what you want. To install and configure:
apt-get install most
THEN (AS ROOT) DO THIS:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~# update-alternatives --config pager
There are 4 programs which provide `pager'.
Selection Command

+ 2 /usr/bin/less
