yeah, alot of older drives cant use dvd -   (minus)

if it burns then your drive can accept the minus dvd.  if it wont accept
it, then it wont burn anything, youll just get an error message, format
not accepted.

i dont know if its even possible to update firmware in dvd drives, i
believe the format is hardware based, not firmware. could be very
wrong?, never heard of updating dvd drives though.
