$ aptitude install pdftk # pdftk file.pdf output file-pw.pdf user_pw topsecret allow AllFeatures file.pdf is the unencrypted file, file-pw.pdf is encrypted with the password 'topsecret'. Without 'allow AllFeatures' your poor Windows user won't be able to print or copy paste it.
