If you have dependency problems with the old nvidia-* packages then it
might be easier to purge all nvidia-* packages from your system and
to install the 100.14.09 driver using nvidia's own installer script:

http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_display_ia32_100.14.09.html

If you use the nvidia installer then you have to re-run the installer
script whenever the xserver-xorg-core package gets updated by your
package manager.
