Yes.  That is normal.

Correct.

The root filesystem itself is already mounted.  It must be in order to
get to /etc/fstab.

Also note that the last field is the order that the drives are checked
by fsck.  I believe (but did not check) that if you do not have an
entry in /etc/fstab that the filesystem will not be fsck'd.  Therefore
you do want to keep all of the entries there.

Other than that you need an entry for everything that you want to
use.

I don't use a window manager such as this, don't get those icons, and
so have no idea what you are asking about here.  I will leave this to
