Marko: Thanks. The installation of xorg-dev includes libxt-dev. Though, "make" failed again. I have been instructed to first carry out a serial installation, and parallel only after serial is OK. If not else because parallel does not compile all modules.
However, the configure command line ./configure -static ifort_x86_64 implies that gcc is taken from the system. If I understand, gcc is not prepared to furnish static libraries (not checked). Why things are not set up for a homogeneous compilation (intel provides *.a libraries) is not clear to me. The parallel compilation will be homogenous, with intels for fortran, C and C++ for bothe amber and openmpi.
