some googling turned up this: http://www.mepis.org/node/10972 which mentions turning off a bunch of crap in the BIOS (onboard modem etc). I suspect that's where you need to go. Also pulling pci bus cards off the machine and booting, then putting in one at a time to see if you can find the problem. A
