I almost never make offtopic posts. I get the digest, and go through it for items of interest, occasionally asking for help, and sometimes attempting to offer assistance.
Offtopic posts do not bother me. The idea of moderation, however, I feel is repulsive. So, my recommendation is to continue the list as a free and unmoderated list. That concludes my two cents.
