-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Can someone help diagnose this problem on Debian Sid ?
I am trying to get the photos off a Minolta Dimage E201 digital camera. It is recognized : May 12 20:44:15 localhost kernel: usb 3-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 10 May 12 20:44:15 localhost kernel: usb 3-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice May 12 20:44:15 localhost kernel: scsi10 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage devices May 12 20:44:15 localhost kernel: usb-storage: device found at 10 May 12 20:44:15 localhost kernel: usb-storage: waiting for device to settle before scanning May 12 20:44:20 localhost kernel: Vendor: MINOLTA Model: DiMAGE E201 Rev: 1.00 May 12 20:44:20 localhost kernel: Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 00 May 12 20:44:20 localhost kernel: SCSI device sda: 15536 512-byte hdwr sectors (8 MB) May 12 20:44:20 localhost kernel: sda: Write Protect is off May 12 20:44:20 localhost kernel: sda: Mode Sense: 00 06 00 00 May 12 20:44:20 localhost kernel: sda: assuming drive cache: write through May 12 20:44:20 localhost kernel: SCSI device sda: 15536 512-byte hdwr sectors (8 MB) May 12 20:44:20 localhost kernel: sda: Write Protect is off May 12 20:44:20 localhost kernel: sda: Mode Sense: 00 06 00 00 May 12 20:44:20 localhost kernel: sda: assuming drive cache: write through May 12 20:44:20 localhost kernel: sda: May 12 20:44:20 localhost kernel: sd 10:0:0:0: Attached scsi removable disk sda May 12 20:44:20 localhost kernel: usb-storage: device scan complete But when running GThumb (or any other app ) I get an IOerror. The messages vary but they amount to can't find device. Most of the time if I check /media there is no sda created. Is this not supposed to happen automatically ? I have googled the problem but most of what comes up is 2 or 3 year old messages. Don't tell me thing haven't changed in 3 years ? This same camera worked flawlessly on my wife's XP computer for a couple of years. All help appreciated.
