I carefully purged all the TeTeX files, then installed TeXLive, and tested it out on a couple of documents (on the way I noticed that a couple of packages I use *all the time* (apacite and apa.cls) which I'd previously had to find the source for were included in the distribution! Good, good, good stuff. So now that's one less thing to worry about later (whenever TeTeX is removed in favor of TeXLive).
