Hi all,

this morning I realize that I cannot compile any .tex file (I did not
try since a week or so).I get always errors like:

10:54 % latex cv.tex
This is pdfeTeXk, Version 3.141592-1.21a-2.2 (Web2C 7.5.4)

or enter new name. (Default extension: cls)

And this is like this for all basic packages. The packages are there:

10:58 / $ find . | grep article.cls
./usr/local/matlab7/sys/tex/latex/base/article.cls
./usr/share/texmf-tetex/tex/latex/base/article.cls
./usr/share/texmf-tetex/tex/latex/extsizes/extarticle.cls
11:01 / $

I do not know what triggered this behavior.I tried to uninstall and then
install again the tetex package, but I got:

11:24 ~ $ apt-get install tetex-base tetex-bin tetex-extra

!!! ERROR! The map file `dvips35.map' has not been found at all.

Either put this file into the right place or remove the
reference from the configuration files - see

I searched for dvips35.map and it is there:

11:32 / $ find . | grep dvips35.map
./usr/share/texmf-tetex/fonts/map/dvips/tetex/dvips35.map
11:35 / $

So, any idea what can be wrong?

        Cheers,
        Ivan
