Greetings: This is a well covered problem. You can find lots of possible fixes in the Discussion Forums at www.vmware.com. The two most common issues have to do with the kernel timing source and the CPU's sleep states. The kernel timing (which is set during the kernel compile) should usually be 1000Hz. The other common problem has to do with the power saving settings of the processor. http://www.vmware.com/community/thread.jspa?messageID=378333񜗝 has some ways to fix the power saving issues.
