Ups, I've checked the man pages but I guess I missed this line.
Something is doing lots of IO (probably disk IO). Have a look at the
output of iostat (part of the sysstat package) to find out a little
more about what sort of activity is going on.
This usually happens after NFS connection crash. So far I repaired it by
rebooting, but next time I will try what you suggested.
