In your config,

  /etc/auto.master:
                      /home   /etc/auto.misc          --timeout 60

This should be fine ...


  /etc/auto.misc:
                      home    -fstype=nfs,hard,intr   1.2.3.4:/home

But, this line should be
*   -fstype=nfs,hard,intr   1.2.3.4:/home/&

I've a similar setup and it's working just fine.
