If I understand what I think you're saying, that's code 'folding', and I
think vim has that too.
I did suspect that such legendary editors (vim, Emacs) have such a
feature, only I never used them, and only I don't know if Emacs
actually has such. It would be nice to have that in Gedit, a favourite
of mine.
