Should.

If it does not, I might try booting a knoppix CD, mounting and chrooting as 
needed.

yaird -test will show stuff needed in either the initrd or compiled into the 
kernel for it to boot. One may make a new initrd or recompile the kernel and 
try again.

Hardware modules for lmsensors and such may need be specified for loading.
