Since the recent upgrade to the above referenced kernel my initial, text
mode start-up screen consists of an interesting arrangement of random
pixels! It's fine in grub, but once Linux starts up everything goes
random (well pseudo anyway) until 'X' starts, after which all is well.
Dropping back to kernel 2.6.17-2-686 and all is visually well,
eliminating a hardware problem.
On another machine, identical except for the graphics card, the same
monitor, via a KVM switch, works fine.
Any thoughts, anyone??

PS There are no problems - apart from the obvious ones - booting into Win2K.
