Hi, Marc. I see what you are saying, and I agree with you. But I still am puzzled regarding the fact that there has been a change in the behaviour of my system. The fact is that the make file which worked properly just a week or two ago quit working when run (as I normally run it) from multignometerminal, because "~/bin" no longer was in the path. Perhaps in the distant past I edited .bashrc and forgot to make a note of it, and then an upgrade of bash installed a new .bashrc ?
