Hi, Although I like aptitude and I advocated its use, I have to admit I have been using etch aptitude recently. I am now a bit cautious about it.
I have to admit upgrading from sarge stable to etch using sarge iversion of aptitude is a problematic as describerd in Bug#401317 if your system has many packages installed. Basically, you can do it but it require too much human interventions unless some well guided procedure is followed. http://bugs.debian.org/401317 I still think the current method is not so nice. So wait for the release note to be updated or check how this bug is updated :-) If I find a good way, I will add to the bug report.
