I am having similar problems while doing Etch or Testing updates. ie aptitude|apt-get downloads the package lists but some show up as FAILED in /var/lib/apt/lists. A good download of the same package turns out be the same size but takes 2-3 attempts to get it right. This has happened on different mirrors. Also, due to testing of apt-cacher/apt-proxy, I have had to do multiple updates and am seeing strange results. On the first download the file size is [4248] the next is [4249] net is [4247]. These were for etch/main contrib packages. This let me to thinking my POTS or LAN was messed up. After checking that out I fonud nothing wrong. I went ahead and ran upgrades and did not have any problems upgrading, up to 50 packages. The problem seems to be only with the package lists. Updating packages lists with or without apt-cacher|proxy shows the same upgrade problems. Wayne -- Melted fruit snacks found on Keyboard.
