I have a separate partition called /opt where I install all the commercial software like matlab, mathematica, absoft fortran compiler etc., As Ken already pointed, /usr/local hierarchy is also a good idea. I am not aware of any standard locations for this issue. As FHS (http://www.pathname.com/fhs/pub/fhs-2.3.pdf) says "Local placement of local files is a local issue". It is completely up to the system admins. raju -- Kamaraju S Kusumanchi http://www.people.cornell.edu/pages/kk288/ http://malayamaarutham.blogspot.com/ -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
