I have decided to stay with the list - I thank people for being understanding. As for stopping spam, as we have recently seen, word lists are not going to be the answer, since spammers are now using images - I am sure that with some work, the images could be scanned, but that would probably take a lot of processor time and memory. To continue on the word lists issue - using partial words would, as Vincent correctly pointed out, reject many valid emails. Unfortunately, I think the only answer to spam is a class action lawsuit - - or an International one against the people who are getting rich off these messages. I'll bet that most legitimate Internet Service/Access Providers would join as plaintiffs, since this massive amount of spam wastes their bandwidth and costs them money (spam filters, bandwidth that could be used for legitimate purposes, etc.). If you hit the top spammers in the pocketbook - hard, it *may* slow down, and if you hit them hard enough to drive them out of business, it will stop. I don't know if this has been tried before, but I seem to recall single ISPs suing spammers and winning.
