Thanks Florian, I went back to a /var/apt/archives backup to get this and do this:- # dpkg -i /var/cache/apt/archives/libcvsservice0_4%3a3.5.2-1+b2_i386.deb (Reading database ... 73882 files and directories currently installed.) Preparing to replace libcvsservice0 4:3.5.2-1+b2 (using .../libcvsservice0_4%3a3.5.2-1+b2_i386.deb) ... Unpacking replacement libcvsservice0 ... Setting up libcvsservice0 (3.5.2-1+b2) ... But it doesn't appear to be only that package. Because nothing altered, The root password isn't recognised. I will try downgrading the others that were in the thread as well but later and see what happens. And my advice to you is to have nothing whatever to do with it. ..............W.
