Install debian on 965 type motherboard

Has anyone been successful in installing Debian on an Intel 965 chipset 
with ICH8 SATA IDE controller?

I was unable to do so with the latest Etch netinst (in latest I mean 
10102006). The problem is that the installer does not recognize the CDROM.

Anyone? Please?
