Hi All,
I have a 3ware 9550SX-4LP RAID controller with 4x 300 GB SATA drives
on them in RAID5 config. Furthermore, I installed Debian testing on
LVM (only /boot on a normal partition). I used the ISO from 3Ware to
install: http://www.3ware.com/kb/article.aspx?id=14860 and I am
running their 2.6.8. smp kernel. The machine is a dual Xeon machine, 4
GB RAM. Should be screaming fast.. it is not.
It is extremely slow. Idiotic figures from iostat. Output when I was
moving a couple of tar files (several GB) from one LV to another LV
(or partition if you like):
avg-cpu: %user %nice %system %iowait %steal %idle
0.00 0.00 0.25 49.75 0.00 50.00
Device: tps MB_read/s MB_wrtn/s MB_read MB_wrtn
sda 53.27 0.25 6.03 0 12
Why so much iowaits?
What can I do about this? 6 MB/s is *not* normal I guess...
Thanx in advance for your helpt!
Pim
