Hi, it is because you need the firmware of you card !
Just go to: http://ipw2200.sourceforge.net/firmware.php and download the
firmware corresponding to the version of ipw2200 driver you are
using.... it depends of the running kernel.
The firmware should be placed in the directory /lib/firmware/ or
/usr/lib/hotplug/firmware or even /usr/lib/firmware/ but it should
/lib/firmware/
