I tried kernel-package_8.135_all.deb. make-kpkg clean does not give the above errors. The kernel compiles with --bzimage but fails if I change to --initrd. I must have installed some packages from the unstable branch and they are screwing up kernel-package, somehow. I hope it will straighten itself out in a week or so.
