I've been running 2.6.17 for 2 days now so I think I can claim victory. I compared boot messages between 2.6.12 and 2.6.15. 2.6.12 shows "ACPI: Interpreter disabled." while 2.6.15 shows "ACPI: Interpreter enabled" and many more ACPI-related messages. If I use a "acpi=off" boot parameter with a newer kernel, no more freezes. The newer kernels apparently decided to try using ACPI with this chipset but there is apparently a bug in the kernel or the chipset (or somewhere else?). I can live with this workaround. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
