Vmware surprised me this morning by not working, so I went about trying to recompile it and it turns out I must recompile my kernel because the last Etch upgrade upgraded the compiler.
The problem is that when I run 'make oldconfig' I get this: slider:/usr/src/linux-source-2.6.15# make oldconfig .config:1: *** missing separator.
