Dear List, This is my first mail to the list. I am trying to get udev started automatically. I need this in order to enable automounting of thumb/pen drive. It doesn't start automatically. (It gives following error while system is booting: "udev requires a mounted sysfs, not started" --failed"). I can manually start udev through gnome terminal after system boots completely. I do get some warnings but udev gets started without any problem.
Once udev is started, thumb drives get mounted and opened automatically when inserted. Everything else in the system is ok, except, this gives me problem while opening gnome-terminal ( and some other problem). The error says "There was an error creating the child process for this terminal" The cause of this problem looks like, while udev got started it removed some file/link from /dev folder which is required to run gnome-terminal - just a guess. This time Udev actually gets started - I know because there is less number of files in /dev folder. But I have to make it work with 2.6.17-ck1. Please suggest what is the problem. How can it be fixed? Problem is, the version of udev, hal, gvm, dbus whatever required doesn't seem to be working with this kernel. FYI, the error I get while starting udev is as follows: ----------------------- It has been detected that the command ./udev has been run from an interactive shell. It will probably not do what you expect, so this script will wait 60 seconds before continuing. Press ^C to stop it. RUNNING THIS COMMAND IS HIGHLY DISCOURAGED! -------------------------------------- regards, Basanta Shrestha -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble?
