Unless you plan to stick with 3.1 (sarge) even after the release of 4.0 (etch), you will have to compile it yourself. If you're going to do a lot of admin on linux it is recommended to learn the command-line tools. There's a lot to learn in the beginning, but the results are more than rewarding.
