You could also:
1. Download the source packages and build them on Sarge.  This link
   points to all the necessary source packages:
      http://packages.debian.org/unstable/graphics/exiv2

2. Upgrade to Etch or Sid.  If you have a desktop, that's not too
   scary.

Is "common sense" really valid?
For example, it is "common sense" to white-power racists that
whites are superior to blacks, and that those with brown skins
are mud people.
